Programme Aim:
The aim of the International Diploma in Physical Fitness & Coaching is to provide individuals currently working in the fitness industry in Sri Lanka with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in fitness training. The programme is designed to enhance their expertise in anatomy and physiology, exercise programming, strength and conditioning, nutrition, client management, and core fitness competencies. This course aims to equip professionals with the essential tools to effectively train clients, identify and manage non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and improve overall health and fitness. Upon completion, participants will be capable of providing scientifically backed training and guidance, ultimately ensuring better client outcomes and career advancement within the fitness industry.

Upon successful completion of the International Diploma in Physical Fitness & Coaching, participants will be able to:
- Understand and apply principles of anatomy and physiologyto enhance exercise prescription, ensuring safe and effective fitness training.
- Design and implement strength and conditioning programmesthat are tailored to different fitness levels and client goals, promoting optimal physical development.
- Demonstrate proficiency in exercise programming and technique, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application for diverse fitness activities.
- Develop and implement sport nutrition plans, advising clients on dietary needs to support their fitness goals, training, and recovery.

Module 4 | Sport Nutrition | Focusing on nutrition’s role in exercise performance, this module covers macronutrients, micronutrients, hydration, and supplementation. Students will learn to design nutrition plans to support fitness goals such as weight management and muscle gain.

Module 6 | Core Competencies of a Fitness Trainer | Students will develop essential skills in communication, client motivation, professionalism, and ethics. The module emphasizes building client trust, managing a fitness business, and fostering a positive and supportive training environment.

5.1 Module 01 -Anatomy & Physiology
- Written Exam: Testing theoretical knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Case Studies: Analysis of how the body’s systems respond to various types of exercise.
Assignments: Students will write reports on how different exercises affect specific bodily systems.
5.2 Module 02 – Strength & Conditioning
- Practical Assessment: Designing and demonstrating strength and conditioning programs.
Group Projects: Collaborating on creating a periodized training plan for a fictional client.
Assignments: Research and present on specific strength training techniques and their benefits.
5.3 Module 03 – Exercise Programming & Technique
- Practical Assessments: Demonstrating proper exercise techniques and creating personalized programs for clients.
Group Presentations: Presenting an exercise program to a panel, explaining how it fits specific goals and needs.
Case Studies: Developing a fitness program for different client profiles and goals.
Written Assignments: Detailing the rationale for exercise selections and programming methods.
5.4 Module 04 – Sport Nutrition
- Assignments: Developing nutrition plans for clients with specific fitness goals.
Case Studies: Analyzing the impact of nutrition on performance and recovery in athletes.
Group Projects: Creating a comprehensive nutrition guide for a sports team or individual client.
Market Review: Analyzing current trends in sports nutrition and supplement use.
5.5 Module 05 -NCD Client Identification & Management
- Case Studies: Designing fitness programs for clients with NCDs such as diabetes or hypertension.
Group Discussions: Reviewing real-world scenarios and discussing appropriate exercise interventions for NCD clients.
Practical Assessment: Demonstrating how to assess and monitor NCD clients during exercise.
5.6 Module 06 – Core Competencies of a Fitness Trainer
- Role-Playing: Simulating client-trainer interactions to demonstrate communication and motivational skills.
- Peer Assessment: Evaluating fellow students on their professionalism and communication skills.
- Assignments: Writing about the ethical responsibilities of a fitness trainer and developing strategies to foster client trust.
5.7 Module 07 – Practical Training & Assessment
- Practical Exam: Conducting a full fitness assessment and creating a program for a live client.
Market Review: Analyzing current trends in the fitness industry and how they can be applied to training programs.
Observation: Trainers will be assessed by instructors based on their interaction with clients, ability to adjust programs, and overall effectiveness in delivering training.
Additional Notes
Upon successful completion of the Internationa Diploma in Physical Fitness & Coaching programme, students will be honored at a Convocation Ceremony. Graduates will receive an official ID Card and Badge, certifying them as Physical Training Instructors by Prime International Academy. Additionally, students who achieve high marks will be offered the opportunity to join Prime International Academy as lecturers, contributing to the education of future cohorts. For those interested in further academic advancement, we will provide guidance and support for pursuing a Degree, Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), or Master’s Degree in related fields.
